Joe Ginsberg was an American professional baseball player who was born on October 12, 1926, in New York. He was a catcher in Major League Baseball from 1948 to 1962. Ginsberg made his Major League debut with the Detroit Tigers in 1948 and played six seasons with the Tigers. Throughout his baseball career, Ginsberg was known for his defensive skills, especially his ability to throw out base stealers. He was well-regarded as one of the best catchers of his time. Ginsberg was also a solid hitter, finishing his career with a .244 batting average and 498 hits. He played in two World Series in 1954 with the Indians and in 1960 with the Pirates, with the latter resulting in a championship win.

After retiring from baseball in 1962, Ginsberg became a coach and worked with various teams, including the Minnesota Twins and Oakland Athletics. He passed away at the age of 86 in 2014, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most prominent catchers of his era.
