Joe Schultz, born on October 14, 1918, was an American professional baseball player and manager. Starting his baseball career in the minors in the 1940s, Schultz played as an outfielder for various teams before settling with the Athletics. However, it was his career as a coach that cemented Schultz's place in baseball history. Following his playing career, Schultz went on to coach for the Seattle Rainiers and the Los Angeles Angels, where he first gained fame as an expert in spotting hidden talents. Schultz then went on to become a major league coach and manager for the Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, and the Seattle Pilots.
