John Doherty Autographs
John Doherty is a former American professional baseball player who was born on July 5, 1968, in Youngstown, Ohio. Doherty attended Ursuline High School where he played baseball and football. He then went on to attend Youngstown State University, where he played college baseball as a pitcher. After college, Doherty was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the first round of the 1990 Major League Baseball draft.
Doherty made his Major League debut on April 29, 1994, for the Detroit Tigers. He played for the Tigers for three seasons and then moved on to play for the Boston Red Sox from 1997 to 1998. Doherty's best season in the major leagues came in 1997 when he won 15 games and had a 3.35 earned run average for the Red Sox. After playing for the Red Sox, Doherty played for the Anaheim Angels from 1999 to 2000 before retiring from baseball.
During his baseball career, Doherty was known for his pitching ability and his ability to keep hitters off balance. He had a fastball that ranged from 88-93 miles per hour and a devastating splitter that he used as his out pitch. Doherty was also known for his durability, as he pitched over 200 innings in a season twice in his career. Overall, John Doherty had a successful baseball career and left a lasting impact on the game.
