John Ellis Autographs

John Ellis is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) catcher and designated hitter who played for nine seasons from 1969 to 1977. Born on June 10, 1948, in New London, Connecticut, Ellis attended the University of Southern California where he played college baseball. He was drafted by the New York Yankees in the first round of the 1966 MLB Draft and made his debut in the majors in 1969. Ellis was known for his strong defensive skills as a catcher and his ability to hit for power.
Ellis played for four teams during his career, including the New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians, Texas Rangers, and Boston Red Sox. He had his best season in 1974 when he hit 21 home runs and 79 RBIs for the Yankees. He also played in the World Series with the Yankees in 1976 and 1977, helping them win their first championship in 15 years. Ellis was a reliable player who provided solid defense and consistent hitting throughout his career.
After retiring from baseball, Ellis worked as a scout for several MLB teams, including the Yankees and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. He was also inducted into the USC Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995. Ellis's contributions to the game of baseball are remembered by fans and players alike, and he remains an important figure in the history of the sport.
