John Jaha was an American baseball player born on May 27, 1966, in Portland, Oregon. He attended David Douglas High School, where he played baseball, leading his team to two state championships. Jaha was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 14th round of the 1984 Major League Baseball draft. He made his professional debut in 1992 with the Brewers, where he played as a designated hitter and first baseman.
Jaha's baseball career spanned from 1984 to 2001, during which he played for the Milwaukee Brewers, Oakland Athletics, and the Chicago Cubs. He was known for his impressive hitting skills, hitting 141 home runs over the course of his career. In 1999, he had a breakout season, receiving recognition as an All-Star and leading the American League in slugging percentage. Despite battling injuries throughout his career, Jaha remained a consistent hitter, with a career batting average of .267.
In 2001, Jaha retired from baseball due to chronic injuries. He finished his career with a total of 1,004 hits, 141 home runs, and 490 runs batted in. He was recognized as a key player during his time with the Brewers and Athletics, with his contributions being particularly notable during the 1990s.
