Antonelli's baseball career continued to flourish, and he played for the Milwaukee Braves for two years before joining the San Francisco Giants in 1958. It was here that Antonelli had his best season, with a record of 21-7, and he helped the team to win another National League pennant in 1962. Antonelli continued to play for the Giants until 1961, after which he spent one season with the Cleveland Indians before finishing his career with the expansion New York Mets in 1964.

Antonelli's success on the baseball field was due to his exceptional pitching ability. He had a powerful fastball and an excellent curveball, which he used to great effect. Antonelli was also known for his exceptional control, and he rarely walked batters. In recognition of his achievements, Antonelli was inducted into the Rochester Red Wings Hall of Fame in 1997, and he remained an influential figure in the world of baseball until his death in 2020.
