Jose Oquendo is a Puerto Rican former professional baseball player who played for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1985 to 1995. Born on July 4, 1963, in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, Oquendo started playing baseball at a young age and began his professional career with the New York Mets in 1983. During his time with the Cardinals, Oquendo played multiple positions, mainly as a utility player. He played every position except pitcher and catcher, earning him the nickname "The Secret Weapon." His versatility and strong defensive skills were a key asset for the team, and he was a valuable member of the 1985 and 1987 National League championship teams. Oquendo had a career batting average of .256 with 14 home runs, 224 RBIs, and 20 stolen bases in 1,450 games.
