Keith Comstock Autographs

Keith ComstockKeith Comstock was born on December 23, 1955, in San Francisco, California, and grew up in San Jose. Comstock attended San Jose City College before transferring to Auburn University, where he played college baseball for the Auburn Tigers. He was drafted by the California Angels in the 1976 draft and played in the minor leagues for five seasons before debuting in the major leagues with the Seattle Mariners in 1984. Comstock was primarily a relief pitcher and posted a career 3.88 ERA in 221 games over six seasons with the Mariners, San Francisco Giants, and Minnesota Twins.
Throughout his baseball career, Comstock was known for his quirky personality and sense of humor. He is best remembered for a video that was filmed during his time pitching for the Tacoma Tigers, the Mariners' Triple-A affiliate, in which he was hit in the groin by a line drive. The video became a viral sensation and cemented Comstock's place in baseball folklore. After retiring from playing, Comstock worked as a minor-league pitching coach for several organizations, including the Chicago Cubs, Texas Rangers, and San Diego Padres. He was inducted into the Tacoma Rainiers Hall of Fame in 2019.
Comstock tragically passed away at the age of 58 on March 1, 2014, due to complications from multiple myeloma. He is remembered fondly by those who knew him as a talented pitcher, a great coach, and an all-around good guy. His legacy lives on through the Keith Comstock Foundation, which was established to provide support to children who are battling cancer and their families.
