Kelly Downs is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who played for the San Francisco Giants, Oakland Athletics, and Kansas City Royals. Downs was born on October 25, 1960, in Ogden, Utah, where he attended Weber High School, showcasing his athletic prowess with the school's baseball team. After graduation, Downs attended Brigham Young University and was drafted by the Giants in the fifth round of the 1981 MLB draft.
During his baseball career, Downs established himself as a valuable member of the teams he played for. In his rookie year with the Giants, Downs pitched a no-hitter against the San Diego Padres, becoming only the third player in Giants history to do so. His best season in the majors came in 1989 when he posted a record of 13-9 with a 3.34 ERA, helping the Giants win the National League Championship Series that year. In 1993, Downs retired from baseball, finishing his career with a record of 57-48 and an ERA of 3.97.
