Ken Dayley Autographs
Ken Dayley is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher who played from 1982 until 1993. Born on February 25, 1959, in Jerome, Idaho, Dayley had a standout baseball career. He was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the first round of the 1980 MLB draft with the third overall pick. He had a successful rookie season with the Braves in 1982, winning nine games and finishing in fourth place in the National League Rookie of the Year voting.
Dayley was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in 1985, where he had his most successful years. In 1986, he won 11 games with a 2.76 ERA and 25 saves, helping the Cardinals win the National League pennant. He was known for his exceptional curveball, which led to his nickname, "The Terminator." Dayley also played for the Toronto Blue Jays, Cleveland Indians, and San Francisco Giants during his career. Overall, he had a record of 59 wins, 49 losses, and a 3.13 ERA in 611 games pitched.
After retiring from baseball, Dayley remained involved in the sport. He worked as a pitching coach for the Cardinals, New York Yankees, and Cincinnati Reds. In 2012, he was named the pitching coach for the San Diego Padres. Dayley's lasting legacy in baseball is his success as a reliever and his impact on the Cardinals' 1986 season, where he played a key role in the team's success.
