Keltner spent the majority of his playing career with the Indians, where he gained a reputation as one of the most outstanding third basemen in the league. He earned the nickname "Captain Keltner" for his leadership skills and was a two-time All-Star in 1940 and 1941. However, his biggest claim to fame was his performance in a game against the New York Yankees in 1941 where he broke Joe DiMaggio's hitting streak of 56 games with a near-perfect defensive game.

Keltner retired from baseball in 1950 and later worked as a coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Washington Senators. In 1951, he was inducted into the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame and later in 1980, was inducted into the Cleveland Indians Hall of Fame. Keltner passed away on December 12, 1991, at the age of 75, leaving behind a legacy as one of the greatest third basemen in baseball history. Read even more about Ken Keltner at Wikipedia
