Kenshin Kawakami Autographs
Kenshin Kawakami is a former professional baseball player from Japan. He was born on June 22, 1975, in Tokushima Prefecture, Japan. He played as a right-handed pitcher in the Japan Central League and Major League Baseball. Kawakami graduated from Tokushima Commercial High School, where he played baseball as a catcher. However, he was recruited by the Chunichi Dragons team as a pitcher and made his professional debut in 1998.
Kawakami played in the Japan Central League for ten years, from 1998 until 2008. During his time in Japan, he played for the Chunichi Dragons and was regarded as one of the best pitchers in the league. His exceptional performances earned him numerous accolades, including being named the League's MVP in 2004. In 2009, he signed with the Atlanta Braves and became the first Japanese-born player to pitch for the team. He played for the Braves for only one season before being released in 2010.
After his release from the Braves, Kawakami returned to Japan to play for the Chunichi Dragons for another two seasons. He announced his retirement from professional baseball in 2013, after a decade-long career. Despite his relatively short career in the Major League, Kawakami left a lasting impression. He pitched his first complete game shutout against the San Diego Padres, allowing only one hit and throwing 70 of his 105 pitches for strikes.
