Kevin Foster was a professional baseball player who was born on January 13, 1969, in Evanston, Illinois. Foster attended Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois, where he played college baseball for the Lewis Flyers. In 1988, Foster was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 47th round of the MLB draft but did not sign with the team. He was later drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the second round of the 1990 draft and signed with the organization. Foster made his MLB debut with the Cubs on July 25, 1993, and played for the team until 1998.
During his six-year career in the major leagues, Foster played as a pitcher for the Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee Brewers, and the Baltimore Orioles. He was known for his fastball, curveball, and changeup pitches. His best season came in 1995 when he went 7-2 with a 2.43 ERA and 78 strikeouts in 86.1 innings pitched. That same year, he pitched a complete game one-hitter against the New York Mets, which was the first one-hitter by a Cubs pitcher in eight years.
Despite his success on the mound, Foster struggled with injuries throughout his career. He missed the entire 1999 season due to an elbow injury and later retired from baseball in 2001 at the age of 32. Despite his career being cut short, Foster left a lasting impact on the sport and is remembered as a talented pitcher who gave it his all on the mound.
