Kevin Roberson Autographs
Kevin Roberson was born on November 25, 1968, in Decatur, Illinois. He attended MacArthur High School where he played baseball and football. In 1987, he was drafted in the third round by the California Angels, but he chose to play college baseball at the University of Illinois instead. After his junior year, Roberson was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the sixth round of the 1989 MLB draft.
Roberson spent five seasons in the minor leagues before making his MLB debut with the Cubs in September 1993. In his first full season in 1994, he hit .283 with 12 home runs and 41 RBIs in 80 games. The following year, Roberson struggled at the plate, hitting only .216 in 60 games. He was traded to the Chicago White Sox after the 1995 season and spent one season with them before being released.
After his release from the White Sox, Roberson played in the minor leagues for a few more seasons before retiring in 2000. His career batting average in the major leagues was .254 with 15 home runs and 67 RBIs in 222 games played. Though his MLB career was relatively short, Roberson is remembered for his powerful swing and his ability to play all outfield positions. Since retiring from baseball, he has kept a low profile and remains involved with the sport through coaching and charity work.
