Kris Benson Autographs
Kris Benson is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who was born on November 7, 1974, in Kennesaw, Georgia. Benson attended Clemson University where he played college baseball from 1993 to 1996. He was the first overall draft pick in the 1996 Major League Baseball draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Benson made his Major League debut with the Pirates on September 2, 1999. He became a solid addition to the Pirates’ starting rotation for four seasons. In 2001, Benson was named the Pirates’ Pitcher of the Year after finishing the season with a 13-12 record with a 3.85 ERA. After pitching six seasons with the Pirates, Benson was traded to the New York Mets in 2004. He spent two seasons with the Mets before being traded again to the Baltimore Orioles. Benson retired from baseball in 2010 with a career record of 70-75 and a 4.42 ERA.
In addition to his Major League career, Benson also played for Team USA in the 1996 Olympics and in the 2006 World Baseball Classic. Off the field, Benson was married to Anna Benson, a former model and reality TV personality. The couple made headlines in 2004 when Anna stormed onto the field wearing a revealing outfit to confront the Mets’ manager about her husband’s playing time. Despite the off-field distractions, Kris Benson remained a respected and talented pitcher throughout his baseball career.
