Larry Sheets is a former American professional baseball player who was born on December 6, 1959, in Staunton, Virginia. He began his career as a baseball player in the year 1981 when he was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the second round. He was a left-handed first baseman and a right fielder who played for five teams, including the Baltimore Orioles, Detroit Tigers, Atlanta Braves, Seattle Mariners, and Cleveland Indians. One of the most memorable moments of Sheets' baseball career was in the year 1987, when he had his breakout season with the Baltimore Orioles. In that season, he hit 31 home runs and had 94 RBI with a batting average of .316. Sheets was also named the American League Player of the Week for a total of four times during that season. In his career, Sheets had 94 home runs, 342 RBI, and a batting average of .266. He was known for his powerful swing and had an excellent defense.

After retiring from baseball, Sheets continued to be involved in the sport. He worked as a color commentator for the Baltimore Orioles on television and also served as a coach for his sons' baseball teams.
