Lacy played for 16 seasons in the MLB, with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Baltimore Orioles, and Texas Rangers. In his first season with the Dodgers, he hit .329 with six home runs and 36 RBI. Over his 16-year career, Lacy had a batting average of .286, hit 91 home runs, and had 425 RBI.

After his playing days, Lacy remained involved in the game, working as a coach and broadcaster. He also became a motivational speaker and enjoyed sharing his experiences and knowledge of the game with others. Lacy's lifetime achievements in baseball were recognized in 2018 when he was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame.
