Despite his promising start, Rohr's career was marked by injury and inconsistency. In 1970, he suffered a rotator cuff injury that forced him to miss significant time. He returned to the Mets in 1971 but struggled to regain his form, posting a 4.50 ERA in 24 innings pitched. After being traded to the Montreal Expos in 1972, Rohr underwent surgery to repair his rotator cuff but was never able to regain his previous form. He retired from baseball in 1974 with a career record of 6-11 and a 3.70 ERA.

While Rohr's career was ultimately cut short, his impact on the game of baseball cannot be underestimated. He was a promising young pitcher who showed moments of brilliance, helping to secure the Mets their first-ever World Series championship. Despite not achieving the same level of success in subsequent years, Rohr remained an important figure in the history of the Mets and the game of baseball. His dedication and talent serve as an inspiration to young players looking to make their mark on the sport. Read even more about Les Rohr at Wikipedia
