During his nine seasons in the major leagues, Clinton played for the Boston Red Sox, Washington Senators, and the Minnesota Twins. He was a consistent player and finished his career with a .263 batting average, 61 home runs, and 293 RBIs. One of his most memorable seasons was in 1962 while playing for the Red Sox. Clinton hit .285 with 11 home runs and 64 RBIs, making him a key player in the Red Sox outfield.

After his playing career, Clinton spent time as a scout for the Milwaukee Brewers and as a coach for the Detroit Tigers. He passed away on May 6, 1995, due to cancer at the age of 57. Clinton's career in baseball was exemplary, and his skills on the field made him a valuable player during his time in the major leagues. His contributions to the game will always be remembered, and his legacy as a player, scout, and coach will continue to inspire future generations of baseball players.
