Luis Aquino is a former Puerto Rican professional pitcher and baseball player. He was born on May 19, 1964, in Santurce, Puerto Rico. Aquino was an exceptional pitcher during his time, and he played in the Major League Baseball (MLB) for 10 years. Aquino began his baseball career as an amateur in Puerto Rico where he received a scholarship and played for Florida State University's baseball team. In 1981, he was signed by the Kansas City Royals as an amateur free agent.
During his professional career, Aquino played for several teams, including the Kansas City Royals, the Montreal Expos, the St. Louis Cardinals, the Florida Marlins, and the California Angels. He was a highly respected pitcher and was best-known for his fastballs, which he threw in the low 90s. Aquino also had a great slider, and his unique delivery made it difficult for hitters to make solid contact. He had a record of 66-67 with an ERA of 4.45 and 772 strikeouts in his 10-year career.
Following his retirement from baseball, Luis Aquino has remained active in sports. He is now a coach and motivator, pioneering youth baseball programs in Puerto Rico, and is considered one of the best coaches in the region.
