Luis Urias is a Mexican professional baseball player who currently serves as a second baseman for the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was born on June 3, 1997, in Magdalena de Kino, Sonora, Mexico. Urias was introduced to the game of baseball by his father and later started playing organized baseball at the age of four. He developed his skills in the field and became a promising player in the national youth leagues.
In 2013, Urias signed a contract with the San Diego Padres and was assigned to play for their minor league teams. He spent several years honing his skills in the lower leagues until he was called up to the majors in 2018. Urias made his MLB debut on August 28, 2018, and became the youngest player to play for the San Diego Padres since 2006. He finished the season with a batting average of .208, and six RBIs in 48 plate appearances.
In 2020, Urias was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers, where he has since established himself as one of the team's key players. He helped the Brewers clinch the National League Central division in 2021 and played an essential role in their playoff campaign. Urias is praised for his excellent fielding abilities and his versatility, which have made him a valuable asset to the team. As of 2021, Urias has a career batting average of .253, 26 home runs, and 112 runs batted in (RBIs).
