Mack Jones Autographs
Mack Jones was born on November 6, 1938, in Atlanta, Georgia. He attended Booker T. Washington High School and was a standout baseball player. He was signed by the Milwaukee Braves in 1954 as an amateur free agent. After several years in their minor league system, Jones made his Major League debut in 1961 with the Braves. He would go on to play for the Braves until 1967, earning a reputation as a power hitter and an excellent defensive outfielder.
Jones' best season came in 1964 when he hit 31 home runs and drove in 101 runs for the Braves. That year, he finished seventh in the National League MVP voting. Jones was also a key player for the Braves in their World Series appearance in 1958. After leaving the Braves, Jones played for the Cincinnati Reds, Montreal Expos, and Detroit Tigers before retiring in 1971 at the age of 32. Overall, he hit 258 home runs, drove in 812 runs and earned two Gold Gloves during his 12-year Major League career.
Jones passed away on June 8, 2004, in Atlanta. He left behind a legacy as one of the finest power hitters of his generation, and a beloved figure in the Braves organization. He was inducted into the Atlanta Braves Hall of Fame in 2006. His incredible ability to hit the ball out of the ballpark and his contributions to the Braves' success during the 1960s will forever be remembered by baseball fans.
