Mark Petkovsek is a prolific former professional baseball player. He was born in Houston, Texas, on November 18, 1965. Petkovsek developed an early interest in sports which led to his enrollment at Bellaire High School for his studies. While in high school, he performed remarkably in both baseball and football, but his passion for baseball was stronger.
Petkovsek began his professional career in 1987 after he was drafted by the Texas Rangers. He spent three seasons with the team before moving to Pittsburgh Pirates for the 1991 season. In 1993, Petkovsek signed with his hometown team the Houston Astros, where he played for two seasons. Petkovsek established himself as a consistent performer in baseball, and in 1995, he was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals where he played for four seasons. During his career, Petkovsek anchored in the Cardinal's bullpen and was used in a variety of roles as a reliever.
Overall, Mark Petkovsek's baseball career spanned 11 years in which he totaled 15 wins, 21 losses, and 337 strikeouts. He retired from professional baseball in 2000 to focus on his family and personal life. After his baseball career, Petkovsek pursued a career in law and earned a law degree from the University of Texas in Austin in 2003. He currently practices law in Houston, Texas, where he also serves as a board member of the Bellaire Little League, helping young aspiring players in the community.
