Mark Teahen was a professional baseball player who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 2005 to 2011. He was born on September 6, 1981, in Redlands, California. Teahen made his MLB debut in 2005 with the Kansas City Royals, where he spent four seasons. He played primarily as a third baseman and outfielder, but also spent some time at first base. In 2006, he had a breakthrough season, hitting .290 with 18 home runs, 69 runs batted in (RBIs), and 10 stolen bases. He won the Royals' Player of the Year award that year, and he finished fourth in voting for the American League Rookie of the Year award. Teahen was traded to the Chicago White Sox in 2009, where he played for two seasons before being traded again to the Toronto Blue Jays.
