Gamel spent most of his minor league career with the Huntsville Stars, the Double-A affiliate team of the Brewers. He showed great potential as a first baseman and was known for his impressive hitting skills. In 2008, Gamel was named the Brewers' Minor League Player of the Year, hitting .329 with 19 home runs and 96 RBIs.

Gamel played his first MLB game with the Brewers in 2008, and he continued to show his hitting potential, hitting .242 with 5 home runs and 20 RBIs in 61 games played. Unfortunately, Gamel's career was plagued with injuries, including a torn ACL in 2011, which caused him to miss the entire 2012 season. After a brief stint with the Atlanta Braves in 2013, Gamel announced his retirement from professional baseball in 2014. Although his career in the MLB was brief, Gamel will remain one of the most talented players in the minor league baseball history. Read even more about Mat Gamel at Wikipedia
