Capps was drafted in the seventh round of the 2002 MLB draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He began his career in the minor leagues, working his way up through the ranks and eventually making his debut with the Pirates in 2005. Capps enjoyed a successful career, posting a 3.38 ERA with 138 saves over the course of his 9-year career with the Pirates, Washington Nationals, Minnesota Twins, and Atlanta Braves. Despite some injury setbacks, Capps was known for his consistent control and reliability on the mound.

Capps retired from professional baseball in 2016 due to ongoing shoulder issues, but he remains an important figure in the sport.
