Matt Diaz was born in Portland, Oregon, on March 3, 1978. Despite being a late-round draft pick in 1999, Diaz's determination and hard work eventually paid off as he made his debut for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 2003. Over the course of his 10-year baseball career, Diaz played for six different teams, including the Kansas City Royals, Atlanta Braves, Pittsburgh Pirates, and the New York Yankees.
