Matt Shoemaker Autographs
Born on September 27, 1986, in Wyandotte, Michigan, Matt Shoemaker is a professional baseball pitcher in Major League Baseball (MLB). Shoemaker attended Eastern Michigan University where he played college baseball for the Eastern Michigan Eagles. In 2008, he was named the Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Year. He went undrafted in the 2008 MLB draft but was signed as a free agent by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 2009.
Shoemaker made his Major League debut on September 20, 2013, for the Los Angeles Angels against the Seattle Mariners. He had a solid rookie season in 2014, finishing with a 16-4 record and a 3.04 ERA. In 2016, he had his best season, recording a 3.88 ERA and a career-high 143 strikeouts in 160 innings pitched. However, his career was interrupted by injuries, and he struggled in his last few seasons with the Angels, leading to his eventual release.
In 2020, Shoemaker signed with the Toronto Blue Jays, where he made an impressive debut, recording 6 strikeouts and allowing just one run in six innings pitched. Though he struggled with injuries again, Shoemaker showed some flashes of his old form, finishing his season with a 4.71 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 28.2 innings pitched. Shoemaker's career has been defined by perseverance, overcoming injuries, and bouncing back from disappointment. Despite the setbacks he has faced, he remains one of the game's most resilient and hardworking players, always ready to seize his next opportunity on the mound.
