During his Major League career, Wise played for five different teams, including the Los Angeles Angels, Milwaukee Brewers, New York Mets, St. Louis Cardinals, and Florida Marlins. He was primarily a relief pitcher, although he did start a few games early in his career. Wise's best season came in 2004, when he was a key member of the Milwaukee Brewers' bullpen. He appeared in 66 games that season and posted a 1.94 ERA with 68 strikeouts in 69.2 innings pitched.

Wise retired from baseball after the 2008 season, finishing his career with a 28-19 record, a 4.23 ERA, and 394 strikeouts in 443.2 innings pitched. After his playing career, Wise moved into coaching and worked as a pitching coach for various teams in the minor leagues. He was also a guest instructor for the Oakland Athletics during spring training in 2020. Wise's contributions to the game of baseball will always be remembered by his fans and colleagues, and his legacy as a reliable relief pitcher will be cherished for years to come.
