Matty Alou Autographs
Matty Alou was a Dominican-American baseball player who played for the San Francisco Giants, Pittsburgh Pirates, St. Louis Cardinals, and Oakland Athletics during his 15 year career in Major League Baseball. Alou was known for his exceptional ability as a contact hitter, leading the National League in hits twice throughout his career. He was also known for his impressive speed on the bases and his ability to play multiple positions, making him an asset to any team.
Alou made his Major League debut in 1960 with the San Francisco Giants, where he played alongside his brothers, Felipe and Jesús. In 1966, Alou was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates, where he played a key role in the Pirates' World Series Championship in 1971. In the series, Alou batted .333 with a clutch double in Game 2, helping the Pirates defeat the Baltimore Orioles.
Alou's career ended in 1974 when he played his last season with the Oakland Athletics. Throughout his career, he amassed a career batting average of .307 with 31 home runs and 427 RBIs. Alou's agility and versatility in the field, combined with his reliable hitting, made him a valuable player and solidified his spot in baseball history. He was inducted into the Giants' Wall of Fame in 2015, honoring his contributions to the team during his time with the organization.
