Max Alvis Autographs
Max Alvis is a former American professional baseball third baseman, born on February 2, 1938, in Amarillo, Texas. He began his professional career in 1958 when he was signed by the Cleveland Indians, where he spent most of his Major League Baseball (MLB) days. Throughout his 11-year career in the MLB, Alvis appeared in 1326 games, hit .247 with 127 home runs, and 464 runs batted in. He was renowned for his excellent glove-work, posting a career .947 fielding percentage.
Alvis had his most productive season in 1962 when he played in all 162 games for the Cleveland Indians. He hit .274, blasted 22 home runs, and drove in 78 runs. His impressive season earned him an All-Star appearance in 1963. However, injuries hampered his career from 1965 onwards, limiting his performance in the subsequent campaigns. Alvis retired in 1970, ending a promising career that included 1451 hits, 247 doubles, and 37 triples. In recognition of his contributions, his former team, Cleveland Indians, retired his uniform number 42.
After his baseball career, Alvis worked as an executive at The National Baseball Congress, a position he held for over six years. He also served as a council member of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a charitable organization that fulfills the wishes of children with critical illnesses. Alvis's experience as a professional athlete and his charitable work earned him accolades from critics and fans alike, making him an influential figure in the world of sports. Today, he is considered one of the greatest players to have played for the Cleveland Indians.
