Michael BrantleyMichael Brantley is an American former professional baseball player who spent 12 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB). Brantley was born on May 15, 1987, in Bellevue, Washington. He played college baseball at Coastal Carolina University and was drafted in the seventh round of the 2005 MLB draft by the Milwaukee Brewers. During his career, Brantley played for five different teams, including the Cleveland Indians, Houston Astros, and Toronto Blue Jays.
Brantley made his MLB debut in 2009 with the Cleveland Indians, where he quickly established himself as a key player. Over the course of his nine seasons with the Indians, Brantley earned three All-Star game appearances and won a Silver Slugger Award. Known for his excellent batting average and tremendous durability, Brantley became a fan favorite in Cleveland and was widely regarded as one of the best left-handed hitters in the game.
In 2018, Brantley signed a two-year, $32 million contract with the Houston Astros, where he continued to perform at a high level. During his two seasons in Houston, Brantley earned another All-Star game appearance and helped lead the team to a World Series appearance in 2019. In 2021, Brantley signed with the Toronto Blue Jays, where he continued to be a productive hitter and a reliable outfielder until he announced his retirement at the end of the season. Overall, Michael Brantley leaves behind a career filled with accolades and accomplishments, and he will be remembered as one of the best players of his time.
