On August 7, 2006, Bacsik made history when he gave up Barry Bonds' 756th career home run, breaking Hank Aaron's all-time record. Bacsik's career in the Major Leagues ended in 2007 with the Washington Nationals, but he continued to play professionally in the independent leagues until 2011.

Throughout his career, Bacsik was known for his control and ability to pitch to contact. He finished his Major League career with a 10-12 record and a 5.11 earned run average (ERA) in 103 games (26 starts). After retiring from baseball, Bacsik worked as a sports radio host and is now a host on the Dallas Mavericks radio network. He remains an active member of the baseball community and is often called upon to provide commentary on the game.
