During his career, Garcia became known for his exceptional control, with a career walk rate of just 2.1 per nine innings. He was a three-time All-Star and won 142 games in his career, with a lifetime earned run average (ERA) of 3.27. Garcia's best season came in 1954 when he won 19 games, had an ERA of 2.64, and finished third in the American League MVP voting. He was also a member of the Cleveland Indians' 1954 American League championship team, which ultimately lost to the New York Giants in the World Series.

In addition to his pitching prowess, Mike Garcia was also known for his outgoing personality and positive attitude. He retired from baseball after the 1959 season, but his legacy as one of the game's most reliable pitchers has endured. In 1981, he was inducted into the Cleveland Indians Hall of Fame, and his number 14 was retired by the team. Mike Garcia passed away on January 13, 1986, but his contributions to the game of baseball continue to be remembered and celebrated by fans and players alike.
