He was born on December 14, 1970, in Asheville, North Carolina, and attended Duke University where he played college baseball. Grace played for four different teams during his MLB career, including the Phillies, Chicago Cubs, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Washington Nationals. He was primarily used as a relief pitcher and had a career record of 27 wins and 23 losses with an earned run average (ERA) of 4.34. Grace's best season came in 1998 when he had a 6-1 record with a 2.94 ERA for the Cubs.
