Mike Hargrove, also known as "The Human Rain Delay," is a former professional baseball first baseman and manager. He was born on October 26, 1949, in Perryton, Texas. Hargrove's baseball career began in 1974 when he was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the first round. He spent 12 years playing in the major leagues primarily as a first baseman for the Texas Rangers, San Diego Padres, and Cleveland Indians. Hargrove's success continued after retirement when he transitioned to coaching and management. In 1988, Hargrove worked as a hitting coach for the Cleveland Indians before being promoted to a manager position for the Indians from 1991 to 1999. He led the team to five American League Central division titles and two American League pennants during his managerial stint.
