Mike Rabelo was born on January 17, 1980, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and grew up in the United States. He started playing baseball at a young age and excelled in high school, earning all-state honors in his senior year. Rabelo went on to attend Indian River Community College in Florida, where he played catcher for two seasons, and in 2000, he was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the fourth round of the MLB Draft. Rabelo started his professional career with the Tigers organization, playing for several of their minor league affiliates. In 2006, he made his major league debut and played in 52 games that season, hitting .254 with two home runs and 14 RBIs. He spent the next two seasons primarily as a backup catcher, but in 2008, he was traded to the Florida Marlins. With the Marlins, Rabelo played in 48 games that season, hitting .202 with one home run and 11 RBIs.

After the 2008 season, Rabelo signed with the Minnesota Twins but spent the majority of the season in the minor leagues. He played his last professional game in 2009 and retired from baseball in 2010. Over his four seasons in the majors, Rabelo played in 139 games, hitting .240 with three home runs and 29 RBIs.
