Mike Smithson was a professional baseball pitcher who played from 1982 to 1991. He was born on April 16, 1955, in Centerville, Tennessee. After graduating from Hickman County High School, Smithson attended Cumberland University, where he played collegiate baseball. After retiring from baseball, Smithson served as a pitching coach for several teams, including the Greenville Braves, Charleston RiverDogs, and Lexington Legends. He also worked as a scout for the Cincinnati Reds. Smithson was honored in 2007 by the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame with the "Lifetime Achievement Award" for his contributions to the sport of baseball. He currently resides in Franklin, Tennessee with his wife, Nancy.
