Miles Simon was born on November 21, 1975, in Fullerton, California. He is an American former basketball player and current assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers. Simon started playing basketball in high school where he became a standout player for Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California. After graduating from high school, Simon joined the University of Arizona Wildcats where he played college basketball for four seasons from 1994-1998. During his time at Arizona, he led the team to the NCAA Championship title in 1997, and he was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four. Simon was known for his clutch performances during the tournament, especially in the championship game, where he scored 30 points and led his team to a victory over the University of Kentucky. Following his college career, Simon was drafted in the second round by the Orlando Magic in the 1998 NBA Draft. He played briefly in the NBA before pursuing a career overseas in Europe, where he played for several teams before retiring in 2009.
