Myril Hoag was an American baseball player who was born on March 9, 1908, in Davisville, Missouri. Hoag began his professional baseball career with the New York Yankees in 1925. After playing in the minor leagues for a few years, he made his major league debut in 1931. Hoag was a versatile player who could play in both the outfield and behind the plate. In his first season, he hit .370 in 60 games, which helped him earn a roster spot for the Yankees in 1932. That year, he played in 135 games and helped the team win their second World Series title. Hoag spent most of his career with the New York Yankees, where he played from 1931 to 1938. During his stint with the Yankees, he played in four World Series and won three of them. In 1932, Hoag hit .400 in the World Series, helping the team win their fourth championship. In 1934, he became the first Yankees player to hit four doubles in a game. Hoag was a solid hitter who could also play solid defense, which made him a valuable asset to his team. He finished his career with a .271 batting average, 309 runs batted in, and 13 home runs.

After his playing career ended, Myril Hoag went on to coach for the Yankees, Cleveland Indians, and Detroit Tigers. He continued to stay involved in baseball until his death on July 28, 1971, in Laguna Hills, California. Hoag's contributions to the game of baseball did not go unnoticed, as he was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 1966.
