Neil Allen Autographs
Neil Allen is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who played from 1979 to 1989. Allen was drafted by the New York Mets in 1976 and he made his debut in 1979 as a relief pitcher. During his rookie year, Allen had a 2.43 earned run average (ERA) in 56 innings pitched. He spent three seasons with the Mets before being traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in 1983. In 1984, Allen had a career year, setting a personal best with a 2.62 ERA over 90 innings pitched. After two seasons in St. Louis, he was traded to the New York Yankees in 1985.
With the Yankees, Allen continued to shine with a 2.99 ERA in 1985 and a 2.91 ERA in 1986. In 1987, he was traded to the Chicago White Sox where he posted a 2.94 ERA in 33 appearances. In 1989, Allen was traded to the Cleveland Indians where he played his final season in the majors. Over his career, Allen had a 3.88 ERA and 91 saves in 11 seasons.
After his playing career was over, Allen became a pitching coach for several years, including stints with the New York Mets and the Minnesota Twins. He is currently a minor league pitching coordinator with the Kansas City Royals. Allen is considered a respected figure in the baseball world and is respected for his knowledge and expertise.
