Nick Blackburn Autographs
Nick Blackburn is a former American baseball pitcher. The Texas native was born on February 24, 1982. Blackburn participated in baseball from an early age and eventually played baseball on scholarship for Seminole State College in Oklahoma. Blackburn was then drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 18th round of the 2000 MLB draft, and he spent many years with the Twins.
From 2008 to 2012, Nick Blackburn was a staple in the Minnesota Twins rotation. Blackburn was known for his consistency and workhorse-like mentality, which made him a fan favorite. Nick Blackburn pitched over 900 innings in his career with the Twins and recorded a career-on-base percentage allowed of .332. Blackburn's best season in the majors was in 2008, where he pitched a career-high 193.1 innings and went 11-11 with a 4.05 earned run average.
Injuries eventually took their toll, and Nick Blackburn was forced to retire in 2013. Blackburn started the 2013 season in the Minnesota Twins organization, but he suffered from poor performance and continued injuries. Blackburn ultimately decided to retire, calling an end to his eight seasons in the majors. Despite his early retirement, Blackburn is remembered for being a hard-working athlete who was always willing to contribute to his team in any way possible.
