Norm Cash was an American professional baseball player who is remembered as one of the greatest first basemen in the history of the sport. Born in 1934 in Justiceburg, Texas, he was nicknamed "Stormin' Norman" for his intimidating presence on the field. Cash's professional career began in 1958 with the Chicago White Sox, but it wasn't until he joined the Detroit Tigers in 1960 that he established himself as a powerhouse hitter. More about Norm Cash

During his 15-year tenure with the Tigers, Cash became known for his impressive batting average, finishing his career with a .271 batting average, 377 home runs, and 1,103 runs batted in. His most memorable season came in 1961, when he won the American League batting title with a .361 average and notched 41 home runs. Cash's abilities at the plate were evident in his five All-Star appearances, four Silver Slugger awards, and a Gold Glove award in 1961.
