Pat Tabler Autographs
Pat Tabler is a former professional baseball player who was born on February 2, 1958, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He attended McNally High School in Edmonton, Alberta and played college ball at Centralia College in Washington. He was drafted by the New York Yankees in the first round of the 1976 MLB June Amateur draft, but he didn't sign with the club. Instead, he signed with the Chicago Cubs in the first round of the 1978 MLB June amateur draft. Tabler made his major league debut on September 4, 1981, and played for four different teams throughout his career, which spanned from 1981 to 1992.
Tabler's best seasons came as a member of the Cleveland Indians. He joined the team in 1983 and played for them until 1986. He was a key part of the Indians team that won the American League East division in 1986, hitting .307 with 13 home runs and 85 RBI. In 1987, he earned a spot on the All-Star team after hitting .307 with 9 home runs and 81 RBI for the season. He finished his career with a batting average of .282, 47 home runs, and 512 RBI.
After his playing days were over, Tabler became a baseball analyst for the Toronto Blue Jays television broadcasts. He has been in this role since 1999 and has become a fixture in the Toronto baseball scene. He was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2001, becoming the first person from Ontario to receive the honor. In his induction speech, he gave credit to his family, coaches, and teammates for helping him achieve his success in baseball. Today, Tabler is considered one of the best Canadian baseball players of all time.
