He later chose to attend North Carolina State University and was a key part of the Wolfpack's baseball team, excelling both in offense and defense. He was considered one of the best catchers in the ACC and the country during his time in college.
Bailey was drafted in the 1st round of the 2020 Major League Baseball Draft by the San Francisco Giants as the 13th overall pick. He quickly made an impact in the Giants' minor league system, showcasing his strong arm behind the plate, his ability to block pitches, and his patient approach at the plate.
