Pete Donohue was born on April 5, 1900, in Athens, Georgia, and died on November 13, 1988, in Orlando, Florida. He was a professional baseball pitcher who played for various teams in Major League Baseball (MLB) during the 1920s and 1930s. Donohue began his career with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1921, after spending time in the minor leagues. Donohue's best year came in 1925, when he posted a 20-14 record with a 3.08 ERA and 15 complete games for the Cincinnati Reds. He was a key player for the Reds' success that year as they won the National League pennant. Donohue pitched in the World Series against the Pittsburgh Pirates, but the Reds were defeated in seven games. He played for several other teams throughout his career, including the New York Giants, Philadelphia Phillies, and Washington Senators. In total, he played 16 seasons in the majors, winning 137 games with a career ERA of 3.98.

In addition to his playing career, Donohue also had success in coaching and scouting. He served as a pitching coach for the New York Yankees and the Cleveland Indians. As a scout, he was responsible for signing future Hall of Fame pitcher Phil Niekro to the Milwaukee Braves.
