Reiser made his major league debut in 1940 with the Brooklyn Dodgers, and he quickly established himself as one of the best players in the league. He led the league in batting average in 1941 with .343, and he was named an All-Star for the first time in his career. Reiser had a unique approach to playing the game, and his aggressive style on the basepaths and in the outfield made him a fan favorite.

Unfortunately, Reiser's baseball career was cut short by a series of injuries. He suffered his first major injury in 1942 when he crashed into a concrete wall while chasing down a fly ball. Reiser suffered numerous injuries throughout the rest of his career, and despite his remarkable talent on the field, he only played in six full seasons. Reiser was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 1995, and he will always be remembered as one of the most talented players to ever put on a baseball uniform.
