Pete Ward was born on July 26, 1937, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He was a professional baseball player who made his debut in the Major Leagues in 1962 as a third baseman for the Baltimore Orioles. Ward played for several teams during his career, including the Chicago White Sox, the New York Yankees, and the Kansas City Royals.
Ward is best known for his time with the Chicago White Sox. He played for the team from 1963 to 1969 and was a standout player during that time. In 1963, he won the American League Rookie of the Year award, hitting 22 home runs and driving in 84 runs. He was known for his powerful swing and his ability to hit for both average and power. Ward was also a solid defender at third base, earning a reputation as one of the best fielders at his position.
Despite his early success, injuries took a toll on Ward's career, and he retired from baseball in 1970 at the age of 33. He finished his career with a .254 batting average, 98 home runs, and 397 runs batted in. Ward may not have had the longest career in baseball, but he made his mark as a talented and hard-working player who gave his all on the field.
