Rafael Dolis is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher who currently plays for the Toronto Blue Jays in Major League Baseball (MLB). He was born on January 10th, 1988, in La Romana, Dominican Republic. Dolis began his baseball career in 2004 when he was signed by the Chicago Cubs as an international free agent. Dolis's time with the Cubs was marked by several highs and lows. He made his debut on April 5th, 2011, pitching 2.1 innings of scoreless relief against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Dolis became the Cubs' closer in May 2012, after Carlos Marmol struggled at the start of the season. Though he performed well, he lost the job in late June after some shaky outings. A year later, the Cubs released him after he posted a 5.48 ERA in 34 appearances. Dolis signed with the Detroit Tigers and then played in Japan for the Hanshin Tigers before returning to the MLB in 2019 with the Blue Jays.

Since joining the Blue Jays, Dolis has emerged as a vital part of the bullpen. In 2020, he posted a 1.50 ERA, allowing only four runs in 24 innings over 24 appearances. Dolis also collected five saves in eight chances. Though his 2021 season has been a little more uneven, he has shown flashes of brilliance in his outings. Dolis's fastball averages 95 mph and has a notable sink, making him a formidable opponent for any batter.
