Rafael Ramirez, born on February 18, 1958, in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic, was widely known for his successful career as a professional baseball player. Ramirez began his professional career in the Minor Leagues with Geneva Cubs, which was a Class A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. In 1981, he made his Major League debut with the Atlanta Braves. He played with the Braves for six years before moving on to play with the Houston Astros, where he spent his last five seasons in the Major Leagues.
